Sources say Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) will use the launch of his new book, From Hope to Higher Ground: 12 Stops to Restoring America's Greatness, as the basis for a presidential exploratory tour around the country in Janurary.
Huckabee leaves office on January 9, 2007 and has said he will not make a decision on a presidential bid until his term ends.
While it is widely assumed that Barack Obama's best seller The Audacity of Hope is a jumping off point for an Obama Presidential run, don't be surprised if the opposite is true, that the campaign is being talked about to pump up interest in Obama's book.
While many Presidential contenders have great personal wealth from past careers or marriages, Obama's family fortune is relatively modest for a Presidential contender. His ability to sell books is, by far, his greatest potential for current and future wealth ... and tying a potential Presidential run to his current book has helped the Illinois Junior Senator reach and stay in the best seller lists.
With two best sellers under his belt, Obama could command a substantial advance for a third book, which could then be timed with an insider campaign for Vice President, should he choose not to make the run. This could be Obama's last opportunity to make a substantial bounty off his popularity before his 15 minutes of political fame are up -- or he becomes a four or eight year executive branch wage earner.
