"Campaign finance disclosures make clear that K Street lobbyists cut a steady stream of political checks to lawmakers and candidates. But political consultants, the other bloc of professionals in town making money off the political process, mostly keep their wallets in their back pockets.
"Even the Beltway's highest-caliber campaign doctors rarely contribute more than $5,000 in campaign money per cycle, according to a Roll Call review of more than three dozen well-known political consultants. In fact, about 20 percent of those surveyed gave no money at all this cycle."
